MY SECOND TIME GETTING LIP FILLERS & FIRST TIME GETTING CHEEK FILLERS AT BEAUTY FIX MED SPA

After getting my first syringe of lip fillers at BeautyFix MedSpa , they informed me that my lips would settle overtime. I waited almost 3 months before going for for my second visit/touch up. I believe this is crucial to fillers, waiting time in between. You want to give your fillers time to settle, but not enough time to completely dissipate.

Upon arriving to BeautyFix, their Director Of Aesthetics Audrey chatted with me about how I liked my previous results and did a thorough consultation as to what I had in mind going forward. Audrey provided a very comprehensive consultation explaining how making very subtle enhancements to the face can make a big difference!

I began to ask her about cheek Filler, which I was always interested in to add more definition/contour to my cheeks. After learning that it wasn't a permanent procedure either, I decided to go for it!

Anna, their Registered Nurse with over 30 years of aesthetic experience, applied the numbing cream to my lips, and while they gave time for the cream to completely numb my lips, they started on my cheek fillers.

They injected a full syringe of Voluma to my cheeks to enhance the cheekbone, thus giving the effect of a deeper contour. I was pretty nervous as I wasn't quite sure what to expect. I knew how the lip fillers felt, but the skin on the cheek is different, and I had also came to learn that they don't numb the cheeks as they do the lips. This made me extraaaa nervous! lol

But, I was soooo relieved to find the pain didn't even come close to the lip fillers!! To be honest, it didn't even hurt like that. It's more so the sound of the filler being injected that is uncomfortable, like, you really hear a "crunching" noise, it's pretty weird lol but definitely not at all painful in my opinion!

Anna did an amazing job of evening out the filler between both sides of my face. The difference was subtle, but it definitely made my face look more symmetrical, and gave my face more of a contoured/defined look!

After the cheeks, Anna got started on my lip filler. Since it was just a refill, I went for only a half syringe of Juvederm. The second time around was way less painful and was a quicker procedure as it was only a half syringe. It probably took about 10 minutes.

Of course, right after the procedure the lips swell and look fuller than they actually will settle to be. Personally, I really love that look lol The first few days after lip fillers are always my favorite!

You can see photos below of the process as well as a photo of how my cheeks and lips looked by the end of the day. You can see some redness on my cheeks from the filler as well as my lips looking swollen, both of which were gone within the next few days.

I barely bruised on my lips this time around as well, I only got one tiny bruise on the bottom lip (as you can see in the last before and after photo in this blog post)

MAC COSMETICS x NICKI MINAJ COLLECTION REVIEW+SWATCHES

FIRST OFF, I literally lost my shit when I received this package in the mail today! I remember first seeing previews of this online and I was so hype!! I meaaaan, a collection of 25 DIFFERENT NUDE SHADES!! MY HEART CAN'T TAKE IT!! Y'all know I live in nude lipstick so this seemed right up my alley!

This collection launches September 20th online at Mac Cosmetics and September 21st in stores! It is limited edition, but some shades are already permanent in the MAC line. Nicki Minaj has curated two signature shades in the collection which come in special metallic pink/nude packaging!

The collection was sent to me in this gorgeous soft touch matte box with MAC's iconic logo and Nicki Minaj's signature.

The box contained a super cool stand display topped with Nicki Minaj herself giving us legggssss!! Her two signature shades stand at the very top, with a drawer full of the rest of the collection. The full collection has 20 lipsticks, and 5 lip glasses. I only received 2 in this package though, I believe it's because the other 3 lip glasses are colors that are already in their permanent line.

Talk about squad goals! Now let's get down to the good part, SWATCHES. They'll be organized as pictured above.

MY FAVORITE/STANDOUT SHADES FROM THE COLLECTION:

"Bare Bling", "The Right Note", "Stripped", "A Girl's Got Needs" and "Creme D'Nude"are my top picks for a good nude for my skin tone. (I'm NC42 in Mac). They have some of the best names of the bunch too! lol I already own "Creme D'Nude" which is apart of their permanent line, if you don't have it already its a good super pale nude!

I also LOVEEEEE the two liplass shades, especially "Under The Sheets" , it reminds me a lot of MAC's lipglass "Oyster Girl" from their permanent line - which I always use! So I already know I'll be using that one a lot too!!

"Easy Babe", "Age/Sex/Location" and "Derrière" would be beautiful nude shades for darker skin tones!

I also liked "Baby's All Right". It's a pretty mauve color, and its matte!

At first I wasn't a fan of how "Gossamer Wing" swatched (It's a lustre finish so it's very sheer). Upon swatching I thought to myself "Okay...I hate this." LOL But after it settled and seeing how it photographed I'm excited to wear it on my lips. I think it'll look really pretty to layer on top of another nude to give it a frosted look!

Nicki Minaj's signature shades are pretty as well, they are definitely more on the pink side though But pink is is Nicki's lipstick color of choice. These two shades will definitely sell out first.

Now...was the collection as good as I personally expected it to be? Mmm, not really. I only say this because I was expecting an actual all nude collection...or maybe that's just what I wanted it to be LOL Some of the shades weren't really nude, but more of mauve/pink shades. I was expecting actual flesh toned nudes of all different skin tones. This does make the collection more diverse/well rounded and able to cater to all "nude" preferences. I do know a lot of people prefer mauve/pink colors for their nude shades. So if you're one of them those lipsticks would probably work for you! Personally, I'm more of a true nude gal. I would've LOVED to see an all flesh colored nude matte collection, THAT would be fireee.

But the colors that I did like were reallyyyy nice and I would totally purchase them if I had not received this package! I'm sure those are going to be the first shades of the bunch to start selling out. So be quick because this collection is limited edition!

HUDA BEAUTY DESERT DUSK PALETTE REVIEW+SWATCHES

I was lucky enough to receive the Huda Beauty Desert Dusk Palette before it launches! You can purchase this palette tomorrow, September 18th online at Sephora or online at Huda Beauty.

The inspiration behind this palette reflects the mysterious desert landscape and the colors of the desert at dusk. This palette contains pops of color and iridescent, shifting shades that transform with the light. The multi-hued tones of the sand and shimmering dunes are brought to life in the nude matte shades and pearlescent golden and bronze textures.

This palette comes with 18 shades. 8 matte shades, 6 Pressed Pearl, 3 Duo-Chrome Toppers and 1 Pure Glitter. This palette retails for $65 USD.

They sent it to me in a beautiful PR Package thats adorned with an image of Huda herself in a metallic gown along the desert. It's my first time owning/swatching her eyeshadows so I'll be giving you guys my honest thoughts and review....

As far as packaging goes, Huda has outdone herself. The palette comes in a beautiful metallic packaging box that reflects the light as it moves.

I was a bit disappointed to find that a few of the shadows came broken. But after swatching them I wasn't really surprised that they broke; Due to the texture of those specific shadows they're a little more sensitive. Luckily, since those shades have more of a "pressed pigment" feel, I was able to press/compact them back into the pan with my finger.

Overall I really love this palette. I did find that the matte shades felt a bit chalky upon swatching (especially Blazing), but the color payoff was great and I think they should blend well on the eye.

The "Pressed Pearl" shades swatched SOOOO smooth, almost like butter and were very opaque!

The "Duo-Chrome Toppers" swatched as almost a glaze, they aren't as opaque as the Pressed Pearls, which I believe to be intentional. They're meant to be more of a soft reflective eyeshadow.

I was a bit surprised with their "One Pure Glitter" shade "Cosmo". It's my first time seeing a loose glitter pressed into a palette. I'm pretty sure thats why it came broken because once I went to swatch it, the glitter instantly shifted around in the pan. You're gonna need to be suuuuuper careful with this shade as it is a bit messy! But either way I'm impressed!!!

I think this is definitely a palette for makeup lovers. It's so unique and has a beautiful range of bold statement colors, all while still keeping it cute with the go-to matte shades every palette needs!

MY LIP FILLER EXPERIENCE WITH BEAUTY FIX MED SPA

The other day I got the opportunity to attend an event hosted by Beauty Fix Med Spa and Gucci Beauty.

At the event, I volunteered to be a model for their Lip Filler Demo. I was so excited because for the past few months I'd been considering getting Lip Fillers, but was hesitant because fillers have become such a controversial topic lately. But my view on it is: if it makes you happier, more confident and comfortable in your own skin, then go for it! Don't get me wrong, I've always loved my lips, but as a Makeup Artist/Beauty Influencer I'm constantly taking pictures of myself and my makeup looks. I couldn't help but realize in photos that my lips were very uneven. I had to overdraw them with lipliner for them to look symmetrical and balanced. I didn't mind it at first, but as time passed it just started to annoy me. Anytime I'd eat or drink something my lipliner would smudge, leaving my lips to look even more uneven and sometimes in photos you could visibly see my lips were overlined which bothered me.

Needless to say I was excited AF to get these fillers because I'd knew it would balance my lips out. Before the procedure at Beauty Fix Med Spa, Dyana and I discussed my issues with my lips. I let her know that the left side of my lip was significantly smaller/lower than my right, which she saw right away. I also let her know that I wanted a fuller top lip. Dyana ended up injecting a little less than a full syringe of Restylane. You can see a before and after of my lips at the end of this blog post.

Did it hurt? Only a little. They applied a numbing cream to my lips which I kept on for about 20 minutes before beginning the procedure. I would compare it to a bee sting, like little pinches here and there. It's more-so uncomfortable than painful. Some of the injections you don't even feel after awhile because the Restylane has some numbing properties as well. I would say it hurt the most at my cupid's bow. On a scale of 1-10 I'd rate the pain a 3.

Is it permanent? Nope, I was advised by the ladies at Beauty Fix Med Spa that they usually last 4-6 months. This varies on the person and where they inject the filler.

Does it bruise? Yes, it can. It depends on the person, everyone is different. Me personally, I bruise very easily so I knew mine would (which they did). It wasn't anything too serious, very minimal. You can see how mine bruised up in the photos below.

Do your lips feel hard? At first, yes because the lips are swollen. But I was advised that after a week or so they will feel completely normal.

How long does it take? I would say about 15-20 minutes. However, it all depends on the doctor's expertise and experience as well as how much filler is being injected into your lips.

What is the aftercare like? Due to the vascularity of the lips there is a risk of swelling and bruising. It is essential to ice the lips as much as possible to encourage healing. Try not to sleep on your face for 2-3 nights following injections. (Well, you shouldn't be sleeping on your face anyway because it gives you wrinkles LOL). It is also advised not to work out or do any activities that will dilate your vessels because it will prolong the healing process. Beauty Fix Med Spa provided me with a small convenient ice pack that I can pop in my freezer, they also provided me with a lip moisturizer for aftercare. What if I don't like it? You should always do your research on the doctor before going through with the procedure. Most of the time if you've made the decision to do lip fillers you're going to love the results. But, if thats not the case then talk to your doctor first, but no worries - they should be able to dissolve the filler by injecting the lips with hyaluronidase.
